Victoria Park
When the English Princess, Victoria - later to become Queen Victoria, one of England’s longest reigning Monarchs - was just a young lady at Court, the old town Common was redeveloped as a place of natural beauty, and Victoria Park was born.
This was the Vanguard of the Victorian Public Park movement, heralded by enthusiasts across the Country, who were fortunate enough to be able to visit the park, after it’s first opening to the Public in 1830.
It spreads out across 57 acres, providing a rich variety of attractions against the backdrop of the famous Royal Crescent.
Nine acres alone is set aside for the Botanical Gardens.
