It’s a little known fact that the first ever postage stamp, the Penny Black, was sent from the museum’s building all those years ago.

The museum allows you to explore the history of the Royal Mail, and all the associated peripheral interests such as uniforms and letter boxes.

The exhibits illustrate the development of mail from the early Clay communications to the modern day e-mail.

A surprisingly interesting landmark, and well worth a visit.
